What to Expect at Your Lactation Consultant Visit - 2 options in Toronto, with an IBCLC

As an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, I offer 2 methods of care to support your and your baby, wherever you are on your feeding journey.

Here are my top ways that I want you to feel, whichever way I’m supporting you and your baby:

Supported.

Confident.

Informed.

Here’s what your PRIVATE IN HOME session involves:

  • Optional prenatal education. Having education and insight on normal newborn behaviour and feeding patterns, as well as latch technique and how to manage feeds, can help get your journey kicked off on a great start.

  • 1.5 hours of in home feeding support. You’ve got enough appointments to attend to. We come to you so that you can avoid the hassle of travelling.

  • Full health history. An intake form will be sent to you prior to your session. We’ll also spend the first 20-30 minutes of our session chatting through how things are going, before baby is ready to eat.

  • A personalized feeding plan. This will be sent to you, via email, following your session.

  • Talk and text support pre and post session. Many people pre-book their sessions and start sending questions right after their babies are born. There is also two weeks of talk and text support included post in person session.

Here’s what your IN CLINIC (OHIP covered) session involves:

  • 1 hour of in clinic care and feeding support. This is OHIP covered, with a referral from your baby’s doctor, to the clinic.

  • Full health history and weight check for baby. All of our questions are asked in clinic, as part of your appointment. This gives us a ton of insight into how your feeding journey is unfolding and informs how we can help you best.

  • Consultation with a lactation consultant and a pediatrician. We work in an amazing cross-disciplinary, collaborative team of 2 lactation consultants and 2 pediatricians, so that you get the expert care from both types of practitioners.

  • Tongue tie assessment and tongue tie releases. We specialize in diagnosing and treating tongue ties. Read this post here, to learn about how we go about this.

  • A personalized feeding plan. You’ll be given some notes to take home with you. We’ll also send you an email with any additional relevant information.

All feeding support involves hands and on practical tips that you can feel confident in repeating when you’re own your own. We operate with zero judgement, tons of empathy and all of our information is sound and evidence based.

We also support families in all the ways that babies are fed - breastfeeding, bottle feeding, pumping, solids and weaning - we’ve got you covered!

I’d love to support you on your parenting and feeding journey. Get in touch to book an initial call to see if I’m the right fit for you and your family. Or tap the button below to book your session now.
